Our Journey of Love

We are starved for love, surrounded by tales of love in TV serials, movies, books, and songs, yet seldom do we pause to consider that love is something we can truly learn and nurture within ourselves.

The culture we’ve fashioned around love and relationships often teaches us how to be lovable, how to be chosen, and how to be wanted, but rarely does it teach us how to love, how to be love, or how to bring love into every moment of the life we live.

So much in our lives is shaped by a deeper longing to feel connected — to ourselves, to each other, and to life itself. We want to be seen. We want to be heard. We want to belong. We want to feel that we matter. And in that longing, we often begin to look outside of ourselves for the love, validation, and closeness we most deeply seek.

From the moment we enter this world, something in us starts to feel alone. We leave the warmth of perfect union with our mother and begin the human experience of being separate — distinct, vulnerable, and aware of the distance that can exist between us and everything around us.

With that comes both wonder and fear. We begin to feel the ache of being alone, and with it, the deep longing to return to connection. That longing lives quietly beneath so much of what it means to be human. It moves beneath our relationships, our choices, our dreams, and our fears.

It shapes the ways we reach for one another, the ways we seek reassurance, and the ways we try to find our place in the world. It is there in our desire to be met, to be understood, to feel close to something greater than ourselves.

And because this longing runs so deep, it often guides us in ways we do not fully see. We begin to shape ourselves around what might bring us closer to love. Beneath it all, so much of our striving is the simple hope that we might finally feel less alone.

Conformity

To soothe that ache, we begin to build identities. We gather roles, labels, beliefs, and ways of being that help us feel recognised and held in the world.

We try to become someone. Someone lovable. Someone valuable. Someone who belongs. We search for that belonging in the eyes of others. We search for value in what we achieve, how we are seen, and whether we are wanted, hoping to find proof that we matter, that we are not alone.

Slowly, often without even noticing, we begin to shape ourselves around what seems most likely to be accepted. We learn what gets approval. We learn what is rewarded. We learn what makes us easier to love, easier to understand, easier to welcome into the world around us.

And little by little, we begin to mould ourselves around those expectations and to move away from what is true. We learn how to fit in, how to be desired, how to become who we think we need to be. We hide parts of ourselves. We soften our edges. We silence what feels too much. We hold back what feels too different. We suppress the parts of us that do not fit neatly into the shapes we have been shown.

And in doing so, we trade truth for belonging, often without even realising we are doing it. Over time, life can start to feel smaller, flatter, and further away from who we really are. Yet beneath it all, the same longing remains — not simply to be loved, but to feel whole, connected, and alive.

Distractions and Addictions

When the pain of that disconnection becomes too much, we reach for whatever helps us feel better even if only for a moment. We fill our lives with noise, busyness, and endless searching. We distract ourselves. We numb ourselves. We fill the space with substances, scrolling, shopping, or endless doing.

Often, these things seem to offer us a way out. A moment of relief. A moment of pleasure. A moment where we do not have to feel the depth of what is really there. They give us something to chase, something to cling to, something that helps us forget ourselves for a while.

And in that forgetting, it can almost feel as though the ache has gone. We tell ourselves we are just enjoying life, just taking the edge off. Yet beneath so much of this is a deeper hunger that is never truly touched. A hunger to feel whole. To feel connected. To feel at peace in our own being.

And when that deeper longing remains unmet, we keep reaching, hoping the next thing will finally give us what we are really searching for. And when the moment passes and the feeling fades, we often find ourselves right back where we started, still longing for something deeper, truer, and more lasting than distraction can ever give.

Creativity

When we create, something changes. We are no longer only consuming life, chasing it, or trying to escape ourselves. We begin to participate. We enter into a relationship with what is in front of us.

Creativity is not only about what we make, but how we meet the moment. It lives in the way we bring presence to what is here, the way we move with life, and the way we leave our touch on the world around us. It draws us out of separation and back into connection.

A mop can become a paintbrush. A floor can become a canvas. A meal can become a love letter. A simple gesture can become an offering. In the pure act of creating, life is no longer something outside of us. It becomes something we meet both within ourselves and in the world around us.

It asks something different of us. It asks us to be here. To pay attention. To listen. To respond. In creating, we are no longer standing at a distance from life. We are moving with it. Shaping it. And allowing it to shape us in return.

What once felt outside of us begins to feel closer. More intimate. More alive. In those moments, we remember something essential. We remember that we are not apart from life. We are part of it. We are not here to fit in, perform, or seek approval. We are here to express, to feel, to play, to connect, and to bring something of our own living magic into the world.

A Return to Love

This is where the journey begins.

Not in becoming something else, but in returning to what has always been there beneath the conditioning, beneath the coping, beneath the endless search.

Beneath all the ways we have learned to protect ourselves, shape ourselves, and lose ourselves, there is still something tender and true waiting to be met.

A part of us that longs not only to be loved, but to live in love. To move in love. To become love in the way we meet ourselves, each other, and life.

From here, the path opens through three essential stages: Embrace, Explore, and Embody.

This is our journey of love.

And so, it begins.
